I didn't know about the concept of the "Roof Shout" - eg when you shout your builders and tradies a carton of beer when they finish the roof. Seeing as my roof was put on weeks ago, I completely missed it. I did try to make up for it today in time for the long weekend.
And I shouted Coronas...surely I'm forgiven?
They told me I missed the plaster shout as well. No one has told me about that one. I think they might be pulling my leg.
Plaster shout. Good one. Next thing you know, there’d be a plumbing shout or a “We got electricity!” shout. Although that last one could qualify for a shout, ‘cos internet. Heh.
ReplyDeleteBut it looks like they did a great job with the roof, so they deserve another shot at the shout, I guess. :D

I say the Coronas more than make up for it. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI don’t think we have roof shouts here. But we do celebrate when the house starts to look moderately habitable (i.e. roof and walls are up, electricity and plumbing more or less running). That counts, right?
Well, they seem to be happy with it, so I guess it’s all good. :D
ReplyDeleteI don’t really subscribe to the idea of a roof shout, but it does pay to treat your workmen every once in a while, holiday or no holiday. I like to think that, if they’re happy while working, they’ll be at their best while doing what they’re supposed to be doing. But maybe that’s just me.
