Internal Balustrades and Reading Nook

Ohhh looky here, the stainless steel wire for the reading nook has been installed and the balustrades have been varnished! I'm loving the look of the combination.

Durian
I ummed and ahhed about these balustrades for soooo long! The building contract allowed for Durian, which is an economical timber but with variations in shades anywhere between grey, pink, orange and browns with lots of grainy black flecks, it didn't work with the style I was looking for.

As the walls are all cool Dulux "White on White", I wanted a timber floor with warmth and depth to balance out the sterility and crispness of the walls so chose Kwila, which has more reddish browns.

I love the clasps for the stainless steel wire too, they're slimline and subtle. I would have loved to have glass but it was way too expensive. A little reading chair and table with lamp is all this needs now!

  1. It’s a shame that you weren’t able to go with the glass balustrades. I think it would have gone great on your reading nook; maybe even going up your staircase. Still, the steel wire is a nice touch and quite easy to maintain, if I may add. :)
